St John Ambulance Victoria

The Melbourne Marathon is St John Ambulance Victoria's largest weekend deployment of the year, bringing together hundreds of volunteers to provide first aid and medical support to thousands of runners and spectators.

I've been invited to document the 2025 and 2026 events, capturing the enormous operation that happens both behind the scenes and out across the city. From first aid posts and mobile response teams to communications, command and the medical teams working beneath the MCG, there's a remarkable amount happening beyond the finish line.

As a longtime St John volunteer myself, these assignments are particularly meaningful. They're an opportunity to showcase the dedication, teamwork and extraordinary effort of people who give their time to look after others.
